Any time is a great time for creating additional income for your association. Whether you have some catching up to do for your annual goals, or just want to fund a new project, take advantage of these tips to bring in some additional funds to your organization.
Here are three ways to bring in some additional funds:
1. Host a Silent Auction
Ask local businesses to donate items for guests to bid on, such as gift cards for services or baskets filled to the brim with products. As added incentive, allow businesses to display a stack of cards and coupons for all members to take, even if they don’t bid on the auction item.
Everyone is looking for affordable and unique gifts, so be sure to invite the public or ask members to bring guests.
With donated gifts, the association can keep the proceeds from the auction for future events and expenses. However, a nice touch would be to donate a percentage of the income to a local charity.
Or you could go with a modern twist on a silent auction and try an experience marketplace auctioning off things like wine tastings, sailing lessons, a hot air ballon ride etc.
2. Start a “Boxing Day” Tradition
The idea behind Boxing Day is charming – recipients donate used items they no longer need to charity. It is a lovely act of gratitude and appreciation.
Why not start a new tradition with your organization where members donate gently used clothes, toys, games, and more. You can host a sale for the public and keep the proceeds.
3. Ask for Donations
While this isn’t as fun or exciting as hosting some sort of event, if you don’t have the time or resources to put together a big gathering, don’t let the generosity of others go untapped - especially if a donation to your organization can be written off taxes.
Take advantage of the open hearts and wallets of others to create some additional income for your association, but do so out of a place of sharing rather than greed.
While all associations can use extra money, consider donating some of the donated money or items to a worthy cause.
