Adding New Links to Navigation Menus
Updated: May. 20, 2015
One of the powerful features of StarChapter is the ability to customize your website to fit your chapter’s needs. Adding or changing navigational links is a great way to take advantage of this. For example, let’s say you would like to add a link to your chapter's Facebook page to the top navigation. In order to add these links, go to Navigation Builder under Content Manager. Click the Edit button next to the Header Nav option to add links to the top navigation area.

On the next screen, click the Add button located towards the bottom of the page. An additional area will appear where you can add the additional link. In the Page Name field, enter the URL of the page you are linking to, for example, http://www.facebook.com/DemoChapter. There is a drop-down box located next to the Page Name field where you can choose an existing page to link to, however, in this example we are linking to an external page so this option can be left blank. In the next field, Display Name, enter the name you would like the link to appear as, for example Find Us on Facebook. If you would like the link to appear before some of the other links, change the Display Order to a lower number, for example 1. If you would like a new browser window to open when the user clicks on the link, change the Target option to _blank. Finally, if you would like this link to only appear to a select group of people, for example members only, you can change the Visibility using the drop-down box. The default option is All meaning that anyone visiting your site can see this link. Click the Save button and this link will now appear in the top header navigation. Follow the same steps to change or add links located in other navigation menus such as the footer menu or the quick links menu. Please click here for more information on using the Navigation Builder.
